Kabaale Moses

Kabaale Moses is the founder of Hope for the Rural Child Foundation. He was born in Kabanyoro village in Namasagali sub-county in Kamuli District in Uganda. He still lives in Namasagali, the area where Hope for the Rural Child Foundation operates. He holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in social sciences attained at Makerere University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Secondary Education (PGDE). Before returning to contribute efforts to the development of his home sub-county of Namasagali Kabaale Moses worked as an Advanced Level teacher at Makerere High School, the Original Progressive Secondary School Bweyogerere in Wakiso District in Uganda and Vienna College Namugongo. In his home district of Kamuli he has served as Secretary for Finance, Planning and Administration and also as Secretary for Education and Health. He is also a well known author of history books used by Ugandan students at both Ordinary and Advanced levels.

While working with the community in the 43 villages of Namasagali sub-county and the entire district Kabaale Moses witnessed the horrible experiences that disadvantaged children who do not attend school go through.  In Namasagali sub county out of every 10 children who enroll for primary education only about 4 complete primary level. At secondary school level the situation is even more alarming. Most of the students who join secondary school dropout due to the failure to afford fees and other school requirements. He gets worried at the sight of children aged 9-14 years in boats doing fishing, charcoal burning, girls being taken to urban areas to work as house girls and young boys cutting sugarcane which they do not as a matter of choice but due to lack of education opportunities that favour children in struggling situations. Kamuli District Local Government has always ranked Namasagali sub -county as having the highest percentage of school dropouts and the sub county with the highest cases of teenage pregnancies in eastern Uganda.

In 2006 Kabaale Moses found it necessary to contribute towards creating impact in the lives of needy children and youth.  Starting with 2 selected from the neediest families by 2010 the number increased to 16 by 2010. He was now faced with the challenge of planning for the education of these children when they complete primary education because if they stopped at primary level his efforts would look wasted.

In 2014 he utilized his experience as a secondary school teacher, his knowledge on how education institutions are formed and managed and his understanding of the needs of Namasagali sub -county, where he was born, grew up and lives to start a secondary school for orphans and other needy students. In 2018 he started Hope for the Rural Child Foundation to mobilize efforts to secure the future for the disadvantaged children and youth in Namasagali sub county.
